Efua NyansaWearing a wig means you are presenting a version of yourself that has been borrowed from another. This way of moving through the world hides a flaw that you fear might be seen by those you rely upon. When a person adopts a mask to cover what is felt to be lacking, the people around them are met with a shadow rather than a face.
The elders tell us that a house built on what is not true cannot hold the warmth of a real gathering. By choosing to show only what you have carefully arranged, you create a distance between yourself and your kin. This distance is the heavy side of such a dream, for it leaves you standing alone even in a crowded room. May the truth you carry find a way to rest easily among your people. A single woman sits by a low fire, adjusting her shawl as if to hide a fraying thread.
Buying a wig is a dream where you are actively seeking out a new way to be perceived. This shows that the desire to change your standing is not a passing thought but a pursuit that occupies your current path.
Putting on a wig or wearing a new wig both show how you are currently wrapping yourself in a role that is not your own. This attempt to present a surface that looks right to the eye is what keeps the true self from the light of the community.
When you see someone else wearing a wig, the dream is showing you how the use of a false face affects the way others are treated. You see that when a person hides behind a shape that is not theirs, the connection between neighbors is lost to what is hidden.

Efua NyansaInterpreter interprets your dreams
Sit down first, child. The dream is not going anywhere. The elders used to say that a person is never read alone. Whoever stood beside you in the dream matters as much as what you saw, and the path behind you matters as much as the one ahead. Look, a dream with your people in it has already done half its work. May the name you were given keep you well.
