Dream about pencils

Pencils signify the temporary ways you attempt to map your path or study the world around you. This dream shows a mind that is looking for a way to draft a life, yet the tools being used are not meant for the permanence of stone or wood. We see that when people rely on these shifting sketches, they are often just testing the ground before they build.

The way you hold your thoughts right now is like a person tracing lines in the dust. You are only trying to see where the feet might land before the house is built, and these sketches are meant to change as the wind blows. This fluidity brings a grace to your household, for nothing is yet set in a way that cannot be mended. May your hands find the right tools for the work that remains.

The act of eating pencils turns the dream into a sign of a hunger that consumes the very means of your planning. Instead of using a tool to mark a way, you are taking the method into yourself, which means you are trying to swallow the lessons rather than live them. This is a heavy way to seek understanding, child, for it suggests that the study you undertake is becoming a burden that sits in your belly instead of a guide in your hand.

You find yourself ready for the work when you are sharpening pencils. This sharpening brings a sharpness to your intent, so that your sketches find a clear direction. You look at the world with a keen eye, preparing to leave a mark that is straight and true.
