Efua NyansaChewing gum is the movement of the teeth on something that offers no meat to the belly. When we use our breath and our teeth for things that do not feed the soul or the household, we find ourselves caught in a cycle of lingering talk that leads nowhere. This way of behaving has been seen to create a thickening of the air between neighbors, where words are moved around but nothing is truly said or settled.
A person who dwells in this state often finds that their speech becomes a weight that slows the progress of the family. You may feel the pull of these useless exchanges, child, as they draw your attention away from what is essential. We see that those who favor such lightness often miss the chance to build something lasting with their words. There is a risk that the truth becomes lost in the constant movement of the mouth. The house is made whole when the words spoken are the words that build.
Buying chewing gum means you are looking for a way to fill the time with something that has no substance. This desire for a distraction is what leads to the very entanglement the dream warns against.
A mouth full of gum or chewing a lot of gum indicates that your livelihood is being crowded by things that do not matter. When the tools of speech are occupied by the trivial, the ability to speak with clarity is lost.
The never-ending chewing gum makes the weight of the dream feel like a heavy tiredness. This dream shows how a slow, dragging repetition can wear thin the patience of even those who are most constant.
A dream of bubble gum shows a spirit caught in the pursuit of vanity. Such a dream points to a moment where the pride of a boast is more important than the weight of the truth.
When you are choking on gum, you find that the things you said for mere amusement now block your very breath. The lightness of your words has turned into a trap that makes it hard to live.
The act of spitting out gum is a sign of a sudden, sharp shame. It is the moment when the triviality of one’s words is exposed and can no longer be hidden.
Efua NyansaInterpreter interprets your dreams
Sit down first, child. The dream is not going anywhere. The elders used to say that a person is never read alone. Whoever stood beside you in the dream matters as much as what you saw, and the path behind you matters as much as the one ahead. Look, a dream with your people in it has already done half its work. May the name you were given keep you well.
