Dream about breaking a key

Breaking a key means that the means you hold to settle a matter are failing you. This dream shows where a way of acting has reached its limit and can no longer open the doors that stand before you.

When a person tries to force a way through by using what they have, and that strength fails, the path is blocked. We see that relying on an old way of command or an old way of providing only leads to a stillness where no progress is made. A person who finds themselves without their usual tools faces a sudden silence in their house and among their kin. This lack of grip on your affairs is a heavy thing. The strength of your household rests on the ability to move through what is closed, and that movement is currently halted. May you find new ways to walk through the gates that are set before you.

A broken key signifies that the tools of your authority have themselves become the source of the trouble. Your power has snapped in your hand, and the way you once used to move through the world is gone.

The dream of a key breaking in a lock makes the loss of means a trap. Since the metal has shattered inside the gate, the barrier is now held shut by the very thing that was meant to open it.
