Efua NyansaDigging is a way of searching for what has been hidden from the sight of the living. It is the movement of a person who refuses to let a matter rest as it lies, choosing instead to go beneath the surface to find the truth of a thing.
When we go into the earth like this, we are looking for the roots of our own lives and the stories that our kin have left behind. We reach for what is hidden, and in doing so, we stir the dust of the home by pulling up what the elders meant to stay covered. This search brings a weight to the spirit, for once a thing is brought to the light, it cannot be easily returned to the dark.
The truth you find may change how you walk among your people, child, but it is the only way to know the ground you stand on. May your hands find only what is worthy of being known.
When you see burying, you are doing more than looking. You are putting a thing away so that the eyes of your neighbors do not find it, just as a man covers a shame to keep it from the talk of the courtyard.
Efua NyansaInterpreter interprets your dreams
Sit down first, child. The dream is not going anywhere. The elders used to say that a person is never read alone. Whoever stood beside you in the dream matters as much as what you saw, and the path behind you matters as much as the one ahead. Look, a dream with your people in it has already done half its work. May the name you were given keep you well.
